This highly anticipated 55-inch OLED TV—among the first sets we've tested using a new OLED TV technology being called "QD OLED"—is among the best TVs we've ever tested, with a higher level of peak brightness than we've seen from an OLED TV previously. (QD OLED TVs use quantum dot technology instead of a color filter, which can dim brightness a bit.) This TV delivers top-notch overall picture quality, plus a very effective HDR performance, among the best we've ever tested. (Samsung TVs support HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG HDR formats.) It also has very good sound, with a 2.2.2-channel speaker system and support for Dolby Atmos. This set has Samsung's Tizen smart TV system, with Bixby, Google Assistant, and Amazon Alexa voice control assistants built in. The TV supports AirPlay 2, but so far not Apple HomeKit. As part of a Tizen update, Samsung is switching from a row of apps on a bottom bar to a full-screen home screen. It also has an ATSC 3.0 tuner for receiving new Next-Gen over-the-air T V signals when they become available in your area. The TV comes with the company's solar-powered remote control that can recharge using the basic indoor lights in your home.
