This 55-inch 2022 4K smart TV from Samsung is its entry into the company’s top-tier Neo QLED sets that combine Mini LED backlights with local dimming and quantum dots. It's a bright, high-performing set, among the better LCD-based TVs you can buy thanks to top-notch overall picture quality and very effective HDR performance. (Samsung TVs support the HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG HDR formats.) It also has a wider-than-average viewing angle, and very good sound. One note: our test sample displayed a quirky "sideways image" problem, which was fixed once we installed a new firmware (v.1095) update. This set has a 2.2.2-channel speaker system with support for Dolby Atmos. Like other Samsung sets, it has the company's Tizen smart TV system, with Bixby, Google Assistant, and Amazon Alexa voice control assistants built in. The TV supports AirPlay 2, but so far not Apple HomeKit. As part of a Tizen update, Samsung is switching from a row of apps on a bottom bar to a full-screen home screen. The TV comes with the company's solar-powered remote control that can recharge using the basic indoor lights in your home.
